David Jin is an organist, pianist, and choral conductor with a growing reputation for his dedication and versatility. Based in Maastricht, Netherlands, he has gained recognition for his work in classical and sacred music, performing in renowned venues such as the Basilica of MartinusKerk, Onze Lieve Vrouw Basilica, and St. Servaas Basilica. David’s academic achievements include earning the Zuyd University Excellence Scholarship, reflecting his commitment to artistic and scholarly excellence.
Currently, David serves as the contract organist for the Protestantse Gemeente Maas-Heuvelland, performing regularly at churches in Maastricht, Vaals, Gulpen, and Valkenburg. He has also gained experience as an intern organist at the Basiliek van Saint Servaas and as a contract organist at St. MartinusKerk and St. Petrus BandenKerk. In this role, he contributes to the community’s cultural and liturgical life, providing music for worship services and special events. As a tenor with Kamerkoor Maastricht, David also incorporates vocal performance into his broader musical repertoire, further demonstrating his adaptability as a performer.
David’s musical journey began in Shanghai, China, where he studied piano and organ under Qiu Wei-Zhen (Conducting) and Lin Ke-lan (Pianist and Organist of Shanghai International Community Church). He later refined his skills under Professor Wong Kin-yu (Professor at The Chinese University of Hong Kong) and through masterclasses with Professor Marianna von Einsiedel at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik Dresden. These formative experiences prepared him for advanced studies at the Maastricht Conservatorium, where he pursued both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in organ performance under Professors Hans Leenders and Marcel Verheggen.
David’s repertoire spans a wide range of styles, from Baroque works by J.S. Bach and Sweelinck to Romantic compositions by Mendelssohn and Vierne, as well as modern pieces by Messiaen. He is also skilled in early music, performing harpsichord works by François Couperin and Alessandro Scarlatti with historical authenticity.
In addition to his performance career, David has over a decade of experience teaching piano and organ. His teaching emphasizes technical precision, expressive interpretation, and a deep appreciation of the historical contexts of music, inspiring students in both Shanghai and Maastricht.
Fluent in Mandarin and proficient in English, David works with diverse audiences and collaborators. Through his performances, teaching, and community engagement, he continues to contribute to the world of classical music, preserving its traditions while connecting with contemporary audiences.
